The accepted start year for Generation X - now known as "Gen-X" - is 1965. Malcolm X was assassinated. America was fighting Communists in Vietnam while fighting protestors and Blacks at home. India and Pakistan were fighting perhaps the last conventional war. Ford Motor Company birthed the Mustang.
An Italian-American man from the slums of New Jersey met and married a girl from the country clubs of New York that October. Nine months later, in July 1966, I was born.
America would be as different almost 60 years later as would I - and just as unchanged.
This is that story.
